Afterquake CD
The Afterquake Project
Abigail Washburn and the Shanghai Restoration Project collaborated on the Afterquake EP, to raise awareness of the continuing need for help for those affected by the 12 May 2008 earthquake, and to raise money for Sichuan Quake Relief.
A portion of all sales of the EP will go directly to funding SQR activities in the relocation schools and the disaster zone. There are also Afterquake premium charity package options where the majority of profits will go to SQR. Package options include a signed EP, original personalized notes from the schoolchildren and original Amanda Kowalski limited edition print photos from the recording period in Sichuan.
What can you do to help?
Relief Supplies
Though the lives of some are starting to return to normal, there are many families in the more remote areas who still need basic relief assistance, including warm bedding and clothing, health and hygiene supplies/support, and occasionally food and water supplies, mosquito repellent and other supplies.
Since its inception, SQR has provided emergency relief aid (mainly tents, food, water, medical, hygiene and camping supplies) to smaller towns and villages in the quake zone, particularly in the first 6-8 months post-quake. This emergency relief project has absorbed cash, services and material donations in excess of 15 million RMB.
Donate to SQR so that we may continue to provide these much-needed supplies.
Micro-finance and direct financial assistance for school students
When required, SQR tries to connect entrepreneurs to small loans to help them develop their business and generate employment. We also link individual donors up with disadvantaged students where the donors lend direct financial assistance to enable the students to continue their education.
