Community activities at Di Kang Le Community Centre

The Di Kang Le Community Centre runs a variety of free, regular activities and events for the local community.

Seniors’ Tea House
The majority of the population of the villages around Guangji is retired, and these weekly gatherings give village seniors the opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy each other’s company over green tea and snacks. The seniors also take part in organised activities; each week of the month features a different theme: Chinese opera, aerobics for seniors, talent show, and health advice lectures.
Children’s Performing Arts Club
Encouraging creativity and building confidence, local schoolchildren get together to put on short skits based on their favourite songs or scenes from famous films or Chinese literature.
Movie Nights
Classic and contemporary films projected onto the big screen for young and old to enjoy.
Karaoke Competitions
This popular Chinese pastime — known colloquially as KTV — gives villagers the chance to show off their singing talents.

Along with these regular activities, the centre also puts on special events to celebrate not only traditional Chinese festivals, but also hosts events to recognise global initiatives such as International Women’s Day.
